Fishing Reports: North, South, and in Between

This Fall, everyone at the shop has spread out and chased fish in all reaches of North America.  Scott and Susanne headed north to cold British Columbia, where they found plenty of fresh Steelhead looking to eat a swung fly.

Cody flew south for a warm, sunny Baja Thanksgiving.  While it wasn't strictly a fishing trip, Cody and his Dad spent one day in a panga with a local guide.  They implemented a technique to catch Dorado, that Cody and I had never tried before.  They floated a dead skipjack outside the boat, which created an oil slick in the water.  They patrolled this slick and waited for cruising Dorado.  Sure enough, the oily water attracted the fish, and they tied into four good Dorado.

With Scott and Susanne up North and Cody down South, I decided to split the difference and make a run to Salmon to look for some local Steel.  I ended up having a great day, landing two fish in three runs.  I was by myself and couldn't get any pictures of the fish, but I got a few shots of the Challis herd of sheep and a beautiful sunset over Galena.  The water has spiked with this recent precipitation, but if things dry off there should be even more fish that have moved up into the system.
