Welcome to LRO's Blog / Quick Fishing Report

Welcome! In our current age of online media madness, Lost River Outfitters has been getting left out.  That has now changed, and we will be sharing our stories and tips with you!  We'll be providing up to date reports on our local waters, as well as any other fishing related encounters we have in the future.  Stay tuned for the remainder of our trout season, spring steelhead, and maybe a little Oregon coast and Olympic Peninsula fun.

For now a quick update on fishing in the valley.  We've had inconsistent weather the last couple of weeks, but warm, overcast days have produced great fishing on the Big Wood.  Nymphing has produced the best results, but keep a few midges in the box, because mid-day midge hatches haven't been uncommon.
Due to low fishing pressure and easy wading, winter fishing on the wood can be fantastic.  Focus on slow, deep water, as winter fish will expend as little energy as possible until water temps warm and speeds up their metabolisms.

Below is a picture of a big rainbow taken on the wood yesterday during prime winter conditions.

Come by the shop and we'll set you up with everything you need to be successful on the Big Wood.  We're also offering a special on winter trips: $300 for full day trips with rentals included.  Let us know if you want to join us for some winter fun on the wood.
