Flood alert for the Wood below Magic, March 30,2012


      MAGIC RESERVOIR SPILLING OVER THE SPILLWAY IN 2006
 WHEN THE SAME WEATHER HAPPENED AS WE ARE EXPERIENCING RIGHT NOW
 
FLOOD ALERT FOR THE LOWER WOOD BELOW MAGIC! 
 
FLOODING POSSIBLE ALONG THE BIG WOOD RIVER BELOW MAGIC RESERVOIR... 
 
.EXCESSIVE RAINFALL COMBINED WITH SNOW MELT HAS PUSHED THE LEVEL ON 
THE MAGIC RESERVOIR TO NEAR FULL. AS A RESULT...MORE WATER IS 
EXPECTED TO BE RELEASED FROM THE MAGIC DAM OVER THE WEEKEND. THIS 
MAY RESULT IN FLOODING ALONG THE BIG WOOD RIVER BELOW THE DAM. 
 
...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH MONDAY 
AFTERNOON... 
 
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN POCATELLO HAS ISSUED A 
 
* FLOOD WATCH FOR A PORTION OF CENTRAL IDAHO...INCLUDING THE 
FOLLOWING AREA...ALONG THE BIG WOOD RIVER BELOW THE MAGIC RESERVOIR. 
 
* FROM SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH MONDAY AFTERNOON 
 
* INCREASED WATER RELEASE FROM THE MAGIC DAM EXPECTED THIS 
WEEKEND.
Instructions:A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING BASED ON CURRENT FORECASTS. YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE ALERT FOR POSSIBLE FLOOD WARNINGS. THOSE LIVING IN AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING SHOULD BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLOODING DEVELOP.
